Car Roleplay Mini Guide

Recommended Posts

This is my mini guide for all of you who got no idea about how to be realistic when driving a car in OwlGaming, this is completely for education purposes. If you're not interested, leave any hate or toxicity out of this thread.

So to start off with a small introduction, take a moment to think about your character before creating it, nobody is perfect and most importantly, nobody is a skilled driver out the blue, there are people that struggle with cars, it's more common than you think and I doubt it there's anyone that might be interested to RP which is quite sad. So yeah, let's start.

  • Burnouts :

That's right, burnouts, a rather complicated skill that is more than going full throttle with your foot on the brakes if you're driving manual. I've seen people pulling off a burnout just to adjust their cars into a tight parking space like man, that's just a no no.

Let's leave it being a hard skill aside and discuss the damage it brings to your basic 1988 BMW. It just rapes the fuck out of your tires, your clutch and your differential. You should really be worried about these parts more than anything else.

Another thing, let's say you know how it's done, you don't care about your car or anything else, make some research about your car, having a rear wheel drive vehicle isn't always enough to pull off a burnout, you should consider other factors that affect your car's performance when it comes to this, there are different types of differentials that might not be able to handle it, limit slip diff are your best choice in this case as they send more power to the wheel that has more traction which is in your favor, an open differential on the other hand would just make you look stupid. Let's not forget about the tire pressure and the condition of your vehicle.

  • Brakes:

Some modern cars are equipped with electronic parking brakes instead of the standard lever handbrake, so consider that next time you're hitting that space button to take turns.

  • Turns:

Shout out to all those out there so confident when they be taking turns at 180 KM/H, it's quite easy isn't it? Well, not really. I don't know what you all think but honestly, I'd consider that disregarding your life since there's is a high potential of losing control at such high speeds and it can be lethal if things end up bad.

  • Your car limits:

You might push your old car to the max once in a while but honestly, driving full throttle 24/7 isn't gonna do your car any good, I'd advise those who are interested to roleplay some problems with over used old cars, I'd say overheating for example which is a very common problem out there.

  • Suspension:

Now this is a very important thing to note, not all of the cars are built to off-road and climb up the hills. Something else a lot of people might not know because I still see some of the players doing it, driving on train tracks, nobody sane would even try to do it considering the serious damage it will bring to your car's suspension, even your 2018 SUV will not handle train tracks if you're going full speed like it's nothing so please, think about it before choosing to do this.. Also as @disappoint said, think twice before driving over a curb or a sidewalk at high speed because beside fucking up your suspension, you might even flip.

Owlgaming is full of Russian drivers. Facts. Imagine making a "Dashcam" compilation from owlgaming crashes and so on.

Not only offroading even, you failed to mention all the driving over sidewalks and curbs at stupid high speeds.

I'm with Disappoint here. If you hit a sidewalk, that's bound to blow the sidewall of your tire out especially by turning into the sidewalk to drive over it. Mechanics only get RP because people want paintjobs or performance mods, I'd love to fix up some broken cars more often.

Nothing is stopping you from ordering a damaged vehicle from a dealership or importer and repairing it yourself, Rennsport have repaired multiple exotic vehicles with body damage, I've repaired multiple vehicles ranging from imports to exotics and I have a few mates who have rebuilt muscle cars from just the chassis and body panels.

Most electronic handbrakes don't react like the old fashion lever ones, pretty sure its Volkswagens that has a feature where when you touch the button while driving it starts slowing you down gently like you're pressing the foot brake

I've tried a VW Passat and when you pull the the button it will engage for less than half a second before spitting out some error on the display and disengaging even though you still holding the button.

You do not have an Audi, you have a Skoda and @Unitts has a Vauxhall Corsa. Don’t be like Deuce with his “100 grand AMG”

we (or at least you guys) dont have full control of vehicles in the game because we only have 4 buttons that is supposed to control what would in reality, be very fine movements. People run over curbs by accident, find it hard to stay at a steady speed (CC is very tedious and jerky), cant turn with precision.

Wrong, I can take a BMW 750li 70 MPH up onto an unpaved rocky mountain and do little 5 foot jumps and be just FINE.
