Staff Reform

Hi,After having posted the rather late April update, where we announced we would have a new system regarding the organization of the Game Administration Team, we will explain you the full changes the team is going through right now.First of all, with this update we are aiming at providing better training for our members and more consistency in the management of the server and its teams. In order to provide the necessary training and mentoring in the team, we wish to have a small group of people dedicated to that task. These staff members will be responsible for supporting the Supporter Team and Game Administration Team. They will be supervising if UCP tickets are handled smoothly and that in-game reports don't stack up.The new position will be called "Senior Administrator", as the title refers to their experience and lengthy period of service with us. The current Senior Administrators will become "Lead Administrator", and to ensure the current Upper Administration Team structure remains, the current Lead Administrators will become "Head Administrator".We are well-aware that this structure makes it look like we are taking a step back to the structure used on other servers in the past. However we want to highlight the fact that this new position is mainly an internal change! Senior Administrators will have the same duties as the rest of Game Administration Team, but with the responsibility of providing the necessary support and training. That includes writing the required guides for the team, making sure the rules are known to every team member, ensuring reports are handled correctly by assisting members in-game or on tickets,...The amount of Senior Administrators will be limited, 1 per 5 members of the Game Administration Team. That means about 4, as we've announced a cap on the amount of administrators being set on 20. The amount of administrators can change if the server grows, but is set on 20. Per missing administrator, two Trial Administrators will be allowed. One of those will then be selected to become a full member of the Game Administration Team at the next update. The other one will be placed back in the Supporter Team. The factors which will decide who stays and who switches back to the other team, will be the reports handled, the tickets handled, the Senior Administrators feedback of them, ... The Senior Administrators will give feedback to the Upper Administration, as they will have trained both.
The Supporter Team has been something new this server brought. Mainly because the team had to be more than what the GameMaster team represented in the past. However, with that aspect the team became a trial phase of the Trial Administrator position. This is something it shouldn't be!For that reason, we wish to re-focus the team on the teaching and training. We've requested all Supporters to create as much RP-schools as possible, about topics ranging from the RP basics to specific RP types. This aspect is now mandatory for all Supporters to successfully remain in the team! The step to Trial Administrator is not a promotion, nor is the step back to Supporter a demotion. These are two different teams, both focused on enhancing the quality of the server (one via customer support/service, and the other by making sure players can acquire the necessary knowledge to play on our server).
The Mapping Team has recently been revived, after having been shut down a few months ago. The reason it was shut down was simply because it had an inconsistent job and didn't actually do much. In order to keep the team alive, it will not only have to handle maps, but actively monitor interiors and anything related to maps and properties. The duties of the team are therefore extended with the handling of the interior requests. Gates, which have been over-used in the server will be handled by that team as well. They will have to be requested, much like the property requests. This will allow more consistency in what we do, or don't allow.Considering this extension of duties, the team will come under Upper Administration management. This means a member of the UAT will become its leader, just like the Faction Management Team, Vehicle Consultation Team and Supporter Team. The Mapping Team leadership will be combined with the Vehicle Consultation Leadership, unless a better option is found within the UAT.This switch of leadership is based on the consistency required of the management of all side-teams. This being said, maps will not require GameCoins to be paid for them! We will, however, quite simply not allow personal mappings to be done. The people who have already paid GameCoins for their maps can contact the Upper Administration Team to be refunded. Refunds will be allowed until the 15th of May.The removal of certain maps will be continued. We will the in-character consequences in mind and find a fair solution for everyone involved.
Now that we've reached the end of this update, it is time to announce who will become the new Senior Administrators. We will start off with 2 Senior Administrators, as we need to look more into who is suitable for this position. It has never been our focus to look at who can share his knowledge best, therefore don't wish to rush any decision.Anyway, we wish to congratulate Franco and namecrazycat. The ranks will be set on the forums today. In-game it may take a little longer as it requires some script edits, and that's not something done right away. We hope you find this update satisfying. Kind regards,-OwlGaming Community-OwlGaming Upper Administration Team

Really long, but full of information.. Not sure what exactly to think.
It may be long, but I think this update will really help the server, guaranteed. Very happy about this, glad to see the UAT are taking a step forward.

Sorry for the long post...
If you need a long post to better get your point across there's no reason to apologise for it! Also this post definitely helped me get a better view on this reform, though I definitely do still stand by my opinion on the report quota and some of the other new things. Also congrats Franco and namecrazycat!

If Supporter -> Trial =/= Promotion, and they are focused on two entirely different things, and are two different teams, would it not be reasonable then that to become a Trial atleast, you shouldn't need to be a supporter? Because they're not related?

Very pleasant post and a very nice update. Congratulations to Franco and namecrazycat , well deserved. I think the GAT will benefit from this even though it's something we've been trying on other servers, I think it will fit in just fine.

It could be an option in the future, however it is interesting to make sure the administrators have gone trough the hardest part of administration: Educating players. We don't want people who simply join the team, and then consider the Support Team as something less!

By all means the supporter stage should be mandatory, it gives players who want to prove themselves as a future admin, a chance, and it enables them to do reports just like admins, testing not only how efficient they are with reports but within the duty they're given, making them seen to be liable for a possible future role as an administrator, as opposed to just going from player to trial. It's more organized to go from: Player => Supporter => Trial Administrator, imo, and it gives you some if not a lot of training as we work alongside admins and in relating fields, etc.

Agreed but with the way it's seemingly set out as in the main thread, it's almost going away from this in a sense. There are some people who are willing and wanting to help people with issues, but may not be great at teaching people how to RP and such. You know? I think the way the Support team is going, it's almost becoming a secondary staff team that should be seperated from the GAT progression line. Especially if it's said that Supporter => Admin isn't a promotion

So.. let me get this straight.Owl started with Trial Admin, Admin then Lead admin, then added Senior Admin and has now added Head admin aswell, going back to how things were before Owl.Owl turned Gamemaster into Supporter and turned that into a trial-trial administrator rank, which they now want to turn back into a GM position, only with a different name.So essentially, it took almost one and a half years to realise that what was already commonly being done, was best.Good going, Owlgaming.

Why do you feel the need to moan at everything that happens here? You left the community, and ever since that you've turned into a hater..

Some people just whine about anything, obviously it wont be just a rank you get promoted to, it is just a rank which indicates that you are experienced enough to train lower ranked admins... I dont see any harm in that ._. well #HatersGonnaHateCongrats to all who got promoted!
