OwlGaming - Legal Roleplay Rules

Introduction

The legal rules are set up to both protect and improve the legal economy. Some measures and rules may seem limiting, yet they are created to increase the flow of money and activity of legal factions. Rules are needed to help this roleplay forward and keep it alive. OwlGaming wishes to accomplish an economy that is based on more than money transactions, but on supply and demand.

1) Gates

Gates may only be placed on private property. If you wish to add a gate to a property you do not fully own, you must request the permission of all co-owners. However, gated communities will not be allowed at all times. They must be requested to the Mapping Team. These structures will only be allowed if they fit in the area or highly needed for RP.

In order to have a scripted gate placed in-game, you must file a request to the Mapping Team. Gates may be placed when:

- in areas considered rich or industrial;

- on private property owned by yourself;

- for official faction use (can lead to exceptions of the area-requirement);

- the code is not bugging another property;

Additionally, upon having your gate accepted by the Mapping Team, you will be forced to provide logs of the installation (you do not need to purchase the generic item) and will be requested to charity a predefined amount.

Every player is limited to having 1 scripted gate per property (one moving item) and 2 on all his properties all together.

2) Generic items

All legally obtainable generics must be purchased IC'ly via the official faction providing this service. Only generics which have an illegal use and thus the purchase would not be registered or taxed, may be spawned by the administration or supporter teams. Minor exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for spawning legal items under specific situations. Situations which fall under this are ones which are time sensitive such as needing a tire iron to change a tire when it is otherwise completely unavailable or situations where an item would reasonably be present and is necessary to roleplay. Minor every day items such as packs of gum, sports drinks, et cetera are allowed as well. Items which are rare or not commonly available at big-box stores may not be spawned in nor are items which are not critical to roleplay such as furniture, electronic devices, et cetera, using this exception.

Placing generics is restricted to what is realistic. Placing a high amount of interior items in the exterior world is not allowed. Those items will be removed if noticed by a staff member.

Big generics, such as houses, sheds or similar structures are to be considered mapping. You are not allowed to place larger structures without the consent of the administration team. An official request must be filed, a PM will not suffice. If such an item, which was approved by the administration team, happens to be deleted, the item will be refunded and immediately placed on the same location.

3) Interiors

If you are purchasing a interior with a attached garage then you must also buy the garage at the time of buying the house or vice versa.

The renovation of an interior is required in order to toggle it, after being heavily damaged. For this job, a construction company must be contacted and present the in-game administrator, regular or higher, the logs of the renovation.

The construction company will have to possess all the used tools either on them or in a vehicle they used.

If the roleplay is deemed valid, the interior will be toggled again.

4) Online entertainment

Companies basing their roleplay around providing online entertainment for the city of Los Santos, ranging from music to magazines, will receive a sum of money based on the 'Likes' received on the first post of the thread.

This money can be claimed only once per thread and at latest 2 weeks after the creation. A regular administrator will spawn you the money when reported for in-game.

A sum ranging from $500 to $1500 per like will be spawned, decided upon by the handling administrator.

5) Bookkeeping

Legal factions which are actively bookkeeping their income and expenses, and delivering roleplay of good quality are eligible to receive financial support. The support is based on the expenses and what the expenses can bring as income.

The bookkeeping is not necessarily very detailed, yet has clearly show where money went, what has been invested, on what has been worked,...

Bookkeeping is not limited to certain industries, but open to all, this to improve the array of roleplay possibilities.

6) Weapon Licenses

Acquiring a weapon license is theoretically possible for any player of the community. However once the license is handed out, you may still get it revoked both IC'ly or OOC'ly.

Legally purchased weapons may not be sold on the black market or to friends. Illegal weaponry is to be obtained trough other means, factions for example.

Stat-transferring weapons is forbidden as the weapons are character-bound when obtained, even if your other character has a weapon license. Caught doing this will count under the same offense as any other alt-alt incident.

Legal weapons may not be used for criminal purposes. It is highly unlikely that anyone would use a legal weapon for such acts and we do not wish to see any player abuse this system. Legal weapons are for self-protection or hobby.

Tier 2 licenses are handed out the SWAT department of the LSPD and are usually limited to law enforcement officers, requiring it in their line of duty. In order to acquire one as citizen, you will require a clean record and very good reason.

7) Your will

A will is something which allows you to pass on certain items to another player in-characterly. Having a will before your death is necessary and stating your will after your character has died will lead to the will not being executed.

In order to have it executed an administrator must be notified in-game. The handling administrator will listen to your will and write it down briefly in your /check. This information is only accessible by other staff members and hidden to players. Upon dying, you may ask an administrator to execute the will, written in the /check.

You may not, in any case, include one of your own alternative character in a will. It is also forbidden to include your friend in the will, so he can pass it to your other character. That will be considered alt-alt.

Characters included in the will must be actively used and not just a back-up plan for your assets.

- In the case where a certain type of company is not available, such as imports companies or construction companies, a full administrator or higher may accept a fee (/charity) for the services. The services will then be performed OOC'ly.

Interiors can only be restored 10 days after is has been damaged. The fee will depend on the damages.

Reworded to make sure the rule is not vague or misunderstood. This has not been enforced for a while and has always been there.
