    Kaufmann & Sons

    Albert G. Kaufmann was in 1921 a famous young tailor in Las Venturas, his workshop Al’s Threads dressed politicians, businessmen, journalists and as the city grew he designed outfits for the sprouting hotel and casino industry as well. Kaufmann & Sons established in 1932 after Albert made a name for himself as a tailor and detached from his workshop to focus on the craft he grew fond of, buttons. It wasn’t easy after the Great Depression. From plastic to wood, silver to gold, he created unique pieces to compliment his designs and it lured dozens of eccentric millionaires as his clientele. From a solid German bloodline, home schooled, disciplined, intelligent, a true gentleman and a family man overall, Albert ran his own game one step at a time. Soon enough he purchased a factory in the industrial district and hired the best to take on the rest of his work whilst he raised a new generation of Kaufmanns. - THE KAUFMANN SONS Albert and Margaret had two twins and a third son only a few months after. All of them raised in their mansion, home schooled and cared by the staff that kept the Kaufmann’s mansion a palace. Charles, Peter and George respectively. George was the youngest and suffered from hereditary throat cancer, he died on his 12th birthday after fighting the disease from a very early age. Margaret was very attached to Anthony and helped him through his fight, she committed suicide two weeks later. The series of bad news struck the family hard. Albert was one year later diagnosed with throat cancer as well and it all led to a depression that eventually ended his life too soon. George McLaughlin, the Kaufmann’s butler was in charge of raising the then teenagers Charles and Peter. McLaughlin was a great man, sharp, cordial, intelligent and unpredictable. His task was to keep the young Kaufmanns in line so they could take over Kaufmann & Sons as soon as they were old enough. Charles and Peter Kaufmann turned out to be a split personality of their father. Charles studied Business Management and Economics in Las Venturas, Peter on the other hand followed his father’s early steps, becoming a tailor. - A NEW GENERATION Peter Kaufmann struggled to keep up with demand as he decided to work solo, the button factory was shut down due to Chinese exportation of bulk and cheaper buttons. He fell in a routine of alcohol and drugs in the 1970's. Charles on the other hand kept adding value to the company, he decided to sell Al's Threads, the button factory and saving his twin brother from a meltdown by sending him to recovery. George Kaufmann was later born in 1974, son of Charles, named after his young deceased brother. George grew close to his uncle Peter due to his father's constant absence and inherited his creative side. In 1992 Peter dies aged 68, lung cancer and cholesterol related diseases. Charles dies in 1998 aged 73, also high levels of cholesterol and an aneurysm after long years as the CEO of Kaufmann & Sons without retirement. George Kaufmann was handed the company at age 25, after finishing his MFA in Fashion Design at Rhode Island School of Design. George followed his grandfather and uncles' footsteps and became a tailor as well. He still owns Kaufmann & Sons but hired a whole team to keep the company alive whilst he settled in Los Santos.
