"Grove. Aint no place like home." Origins Grove Street Families is one of the oldest gangs in the whole LS area, spanning back to as far as the 1960's, being an African-American gang formed in Grove Street, LS. The gang itself was, in its origins, formed by a few African-Americans trying to make a quick buck, which evolved from making a quick buck to getting the whole street involved in all kind's of activities, ranging from illegal drug trade, rivalries, arms dealing, gambling, murder. The history of Grove is mostly unknown before the 1960's, as violent activity with rival gangs has taken the life of many of the OG starters of the gang. Things heated up starting in the 1980's, as a new rivaling gang named the Ballas started picking up heat. Bloody, intense wars commensed. In the 1990's, Grove started to lose influence, losing territories, with the emergence of a Mexican gang called the Vagos, which was well known for their heavy crack-cocaine influence throughout the territories. Present day In the current day, Grove is a shadow of its former self. Effectively extinct, it made a quick resurgence, but due to the irrational and often reckless dealing of things, the former OGs and gang members all either got killed off, busted or just left town, anyone else left went about to do their own thing, steering away from Grove. That is, until one guy decided it was time to bring back Grove, back to its glory days, but this time, not follow the reckless behaviour of the previous OG's, but rather, follow his own path, building slowly, carefully, creating influence with key players to gain respect, trust and connections. Grove of the past, of intense violence, of mass blood, would be kept to an absolute minimum, rather emphasizing on smart, calculated moves to gain power over the area, thus creating a Grove that would one day rival even the biggest Underground organizations. Common slang Grove Street Families has always had their own slang, which has mostly stayed the same throughout the years. OG, Original Gangster, someone who has put in the work, well respected member of the family, influential. Fam, Family, a sign of respect, greeting Busta, Buster, One who is a fake, a fraud, a coward. Gang Green, the representing color of Grove, should be usually kept low-key, in the form of a cap, or a shirt. Painting of cars or vehicles to Gang Green generally isnt recommended, as shown in history, it makes one a very easy target. (( OOC BIT )) My main goal is to not go full guns blazing, rather focus on slow progression of the faction to create better, more detailed roleplay for the gang, and other underground factions to participate in. CKing will be as usual with Illegal Factions, you may be CKd, for any reason, but emphasize on not CKing, or CKing others, longevity is what will create better conditions for roleplay, i cant stress that enough. Respect, earn respect, and always respect the OG's, you are free to question decisions and suggest other ways of going about things, but generally, the OGs usually know what theire doing. Use common sense when you assess situations, not every argument needs a gun to someone's face, not every fight needs someone being stabbed to death, we're here for the long run. Name: Amelia 'Two-Step' Shaw Age: 18 Ethnicity: African American Traits: Honest, Determined, Fighter, Intelligent Flaws: Stubborn, Short-tempered, Vengeful, Cruel, Subtle depression, Not good with saving money. Family: Detroit [Deceased]Deion Robertson - Father [Deceased] Becca Shaw - Mother [Alive and in jail] Aleisha "Little Bambi" Shaw - Sister Los Santos [Deceased] Lachelle Thompson - Aunt [Missing since 2005] Kentay "Scrap Scrap" Thompson - Cousin I. Background: Life has not been an easy journey for Amelia. She was born and raised in a poverty-stricken area of Detroit that is known as Forest Park. In addition, this neighborhood was known to be riddled with gangs and overall was just a bad part of the city for a kid to be raised in. Her mother was an ex-grove street gangbanger that fell in-love with a man that was visiting Los Santos from Detroit. She left everything behind in Los Santos to move to Detroit and be with him. However, this guy would end up cheating on her along with getting her pregnant. She was also left in crippling debt that made it impossible for her ever move back to Los Santos. Amelia’s father was an associate in one of the gangs of the areas. He was also one of her mother’s many lovers. He flat out refused to accept that Amelia was his daughter and even accused her mother of cheating. Sadly, her father did not live for a long time as he was gunned down in one of the numerous gang-wars. Amelia had a very tough life growing up as a child in Forest Park. Her mother was addicted to drugs and it had gotten to such a bad state that some nights she could not even afford to feed her own child. The hunger and carelessness of their mother was the main reason that Amelias sister, Aleisha, would run away with a boyfriend at sixteen and not be seen for several years. Nonetheless, having a non-caring mother caused great duress for Amelias personality and it caused her to act out all the time in school along with several suspensions. Moreover, she would sneak out at night and hangout with other kids around her age that also had trouble at home and this led to acting out and committing petty offenses such as graffiti tagging, thievery, and muggings. II. Sisterhood and learning the trade. The only person that Amelia ever bonded with was her half-sister, Aleisha, that soon became known as the notorious ‘Lil Bambi’ in Detroit. Aleisha was precisely ten years older than Amelia and had gotten herself affiliated with a drug trafficking organization that became known as ‘The Black Mob Family’. Two years after Aleisha ran away from home, she came back and was able to rescue Amelia from her mother. Amelia would live with Aleisha and her boyfriend and slowly learn about their involvement in a rising in popularity and unique organization that was a mixture of gang and traditional drug trafficking. Aleisha took Amelia personally under her wing and taught her about the trade. It was here that Amelia learned how to sell drugs, cover up earnings through legal fronts, and various other criminal activities. In addition, Amelia was able to save up a sizeable amount of money for herself but she had massive troubles saving it up as would be expected. Sadly, the life of crime eventually caught up to Aleisha and she was given a lengthy 30-year sentence in federal prison. This was a major blow to Amelia to see the only person she looked up to go behind jails. However, it was thanks to Alesha’s smart thinking that kept Amelia out of the same prison walls or worse. III. Leaving for Los Santos Things were looking worse for Amelia after the shocking arrest of her sister. She was struggling academically in high school; The Black Mafia Family was crumbling in Detroit as the DEA was closing in on them and kingpins of different operations within the family were being arrested. Moreover, this was leading Amelia into depression. However, something unexpected would happen to Amelia on March 25th, 2021. Amelia received a letter from her aunt that she was the last surviving benefactor of her inheritance. The inheritance was supposed to go to her cousin, Kentay, but he has been missing since 2005 and perceived to be deceased. Kentay was rumored to have been involved in a gang within Grove Street and he strangely went missing during a major war with another gang in the area in August 2005. Soon enough, Amelia would find out that she has been given a small home in Grove Street, a rundown Glendale car, and $5000 dollars in cash. Now was her chance to escape Detroit and she took no hesitation in packing up and leaving that cold hell hole. What will she learn about her families history to Grove Street, and will she stay out of trouble or get right back into the way of life? ((OOC: Storyline will touch both her illegal and legal activities and won’t be a traditional gangster story and is left mostly unwritten and to be written by the people she meets and interacts.
